How do you keep progressing strength when you regularly fast (religious or intermittent)?
Quick question: many of us balance strength training with periodic fasting—religious fasts like Navratri/Ekadashi or time-restricted eating. When a fasting day falls on a planned training day, what do you actually do to keep getting stronger? Move heavy lifts to fed days, cut volume/intensity, train fasted, or something else that worked for you?

Practical approach: when possible shift your heaviest work to fed days. If you must train fasted, keep intensity (heavy loads) but cut volume — low‑volume heavy sets (e.g., 2–5 sets of low reps) preserve neural strength without excessive metabolic stress. Prioritize total daily protein (≈1.6–2.0 g/kg/day) and distribute protein in feeding windows with a leucine‑rich meal after training to protect muscle. Stay well hydrated and replace electrolytes; avoid maximal singles or long technical sessions when dehydrated or hypoglycaemic. For multi‑day religious fasts, reduce frequency and focus on maintenance (technique, mobility, short heavy sessions) rather than progression until normal feeding resumes.
