Training while fasting for festivals (Ramzan, Navratri): heavy lifts, light sessions, or rest?
During Ramadan, Navratri or short personal fasts many of us still have work, commutes and a gym membership. Do you stick to heavy lifts in a fasted state, switch to lighter mobility/cardio, move workouts to after iftar, or just rest? What did you try, and how did energy, sleep or work schedules shape your choice?

Short guidance: if your priority is strength or progressive overload, do resistance training after iftar (allow ~1.5–2 h for eating/fluids). If you must train while fasting, reduce intensity/volume, avoid testing new 1RMs, and favor skill/technique, mobility or low‑intensity cardio. Protect sleep and hydration: prioritize a carbohydrate+protein at suhoor and protein after iftar, drink fluids across the non‑fasting window, and use caffeine strategically if tolerated. Monitor for dizziness, excessive fatigue or blood‑sugar issues (consult a clinician if diabetic or on meds). Adjust for daylight length and individual tolerance—short, frequent sessions often beat one very hard fasted session.
