Getting real steps between market runs, school drop-offs and grocery bags — what works for you?
Errands eat most of my day: vegetable market, tiffin pickup, school drop, carrying groceries back. It’s easy to end up standing or in a vehicle instead of walking. Do you deliberately break errands into short walks, park farther, make multiple small trips, or accept lower step days? Share one simple thing you actually do to add meaningful movement on errand-heavy days.

I started parking a block or two away from the school/market and walking in. It only adds 8–15 minutes each trip but feels way easier than trying to squeeze into a close spot, and those little walks add up over a week. Plus the kids actually like the extra time to chat on the way in. Works for me on errand-heavy days.

Short walks do count. WHO recommends adults get 150–300 minutes of moderate activity weekly and no longer requires a 10‑minute minimum bout — activity can be accumulated in short bursts. One simple, practical habit: after each errand stop, do a brisk 8–12 minute walk (or park 5–10 minutes farther and walk). These mini-walks raise your heart rate, increase daily NEAT, and are easier to maintain than a single long session.
