Conferences with evening networking dinners — what's one thing you do to feel better the next morning?

Conferences mean long days, hotel buffets and drinks with colleagues. What's one simple thing you actually do to avoid feeling bloated, tired, or off the next morning? (Examples: pre-eating protein, picking a few dishes, pacing drinks, a short walk, carrying a snack.)

I do a 10–15 minute walk right after the dinner — even if it’s just laps around the hotel. It’s small, helps me settle my stomach, slows me from sitting and snacking more, and I usually sleep better than if I crash straight into the room.

A compact, evidence‑backed routine I use: have a small protein snack before the buffet (yogurt/egg/peanuts) so you don’t overfill on carbs; at dinner prioritise protein + vegetables and limit salty/starchy items; pace alcohol (roughly ≤1 standard drink/hour) and alternate each alcoholic drink with a glass of water; take a 10–15 minute walk after dinner to aid digestion; avoid big late-night carb binges; start a 30–60 minute wind‑down (dim lights, reduce screens) to protect sleep. These steps cut bloating, reduce hangover risk and improve next‑day energy.
