Arrive late at a hotel — what do you pick for a quick, not-too-heavy dinner?

Say you reach a hotel around 10–11pm after meetings or travel and don’t want something heavy before bed. Do you order dal/khichdi from room service, ask for omelette or paneer, grab curd and fruit, or step out to a nearby dhaba? Share one thing you've actually ordered or avoided and why.

If I’m trying to sleep soon after arriving I usually pick something light + a bit of protein. My go-to has been plain curd and a banana plus a small omelette (ask for less oil) — fills me up without that weighed-down feeling. I once ordered khichdi late and woke up bloated, so I tend to avoid heavy dals or rich paneer at night. Also, stepping out to a dhaba is tempting but I find it messes with my wind-down routine, so I save that for earlier evenings.

If you want something light and unlikely to disturb sleep, favour a small, warm, easily digested meal: khichdi or a thin dal, a plain omelette, or a clear soup with a bit of toast. These give protein + modest carbs without excess fat or spice. Avoid large, fatty paneer dishes or fried dhaba plates late at night; heavy, spicy or very salty meals can cause indigestion or poor sleep. Plain curd/chaas is fine as a quick option (avoid sugary fruit combos if you’re reflux‑prone). Aim to eat 60–90 minutes before bed and keep portions small.
