After a long, stressful workday do you push for the planned heavy session or pick a lighter 'de-stress' workout?

On days with long meetings, a rough commute, or low energy, people often choose between forcing a structured strength/cardio session (progress) or swapping to yoga, a walk, or light cardio (stress relief). Which do you usually pick and why? What cues tell you to stick to the plan or change it?

Quick, practical rule: autoregulate. Do a 5–10 min warm‑up and check simple readiness cues — resting HR (≈5–10 bpm above your normal), very poor sleep, low mood/motivation, persistent heavy muscles, or signs of illness → pick a de‑stress session (walk, yoga, mobility) or shorten intensity/volume. If warm‑up feels good and cues are normal, do the planned session but consider cutting volume ~20–30% or 1–2 RPE points. Aim for most weeks to include your hard sessions (for progress) but limit high‑intensity days to 2–4/week and prioritise sleep and nutrition; light sessions aid recovery and adherence.
