If you had time/money for one recovery thing a week, which would you pick?

Imagine you train regularly but can only afford one proper recovery session each week. Common options: oil/therapeutic massage, a physio visit, sauna/steam, a long nap + prioritised sleep, or a focused self-session (foam rolling + mobility). Which would you pick and why?

A simple prioritisation rule: if you’re healthy with no pain, spend the slot on sleep (a long nap plus prioritised night sleep) — sleep has the largest, broad systemic benefit for performance, mood and immunity. If you have a specific niggle or injury, see a physio (treat pathology and prevent longer downtime). If neither applies, low-cost options: a focused self-session (foam‑rolling + mobility) for maintenance, or a therapeutic massage for short-term DOMS relief and relaxation. Sauna/steam give added cardiovascular/heat-adaptation benefits but are secondary to sleep/physio for most people.
