Active rest or full rest on recovery days — what do you actually do?
Quick question: on days between hard workouts do you keep moving (walk, light cycle, yoga) or take a full rest? How do you decide — energy, soreness, sleep, progress, or time? Share what you do, how often, and any surprises (better recovery, worse performance, or no difference).

Short guidance: light active recovery (easy walk, gentle cycling, mobility/yoga, 20–45 min at a conversational pace) generally speeds clearance of metabolites, reduces stiffness, and preserves movement patterns vs doing nothing. Keep intensity very low (≈<60% perceived effort or conversational pace) and short enough not to add fatigue. Choose full rest when you have persistent, heavy DOMS that limits movement, poor sleep, elevated resting HR or HRV indicating stress, loss of appetite, or sustained performance drops. Use a simple readiness check (energy, soreness 0–10, sleep, resting HR/HRV) — if two or more signs are poor, prioritize passive rest or very gentle mobility. Avoid using “active recovery” to sneak in extra hard work; it should be restorative, not additional overload.
