Restarting fitness while travelling for work — what kept you consistent?

For people restarting fitness while spending lots of time on the road — hotels, trains, flights, odd schedules — what one concrete strategy, mini-routine, or packing habit actually kept you consistent? Examples that work on the move (15-minute hotel circuits, resistance bands, fixed time-of-day, walking layovers) are useful — but share what you actually stuck with.

What actually stuck for me was one tiny, non-negotiable routine: do a 10–15 minute band+bodyweight circuit the moment I step into the hotel room, then shower. I stuff a cheap loop band in my luggage, put a sticky note on the mirror that says “10 min,” and do 3 rounds of: 40s band rows, 30s push-ups (knees ok), 40s squats, 30s plank, 20s rest. Doing it right away (before emails or food) made it feel like part of travel rather than an optional workout — and a $10 band + a sticky note is about as low-effort/portable as it gets.

Try a single, repeatable travel habit: a 15‑minute resistance “circuit” done at a fixed anchor (first thing after arriving or first thing in the morning). Example: 3 rounds of 45s work /15s rest — push‑ups (or band rows), squats, lunges, glute bridges, plank. Pack a light resistance band and a small protein snack (20–30 g) to eat within ~90 minutes of the session. Why: short, frequent resistance sessions maintain strength better than only cardio; they accumulate toward activity guidelines and are easy to do in hotel rooms or platforms.
