Progress stalled but you eat the same family meals — which small, realistic tweak worked?

Many people share home-cooked family meals and can’t prepare a separate diet. If your weight or strength progress stalled while eating the same dal-roti-sabzi-rice meals, what one small, realistic change actually helped — portion control, adding a protein side, meal timing, smaller roti, or something else? Say the single tweak and how long you tried it.

I added a simple protein side — a cup of plain curd or a boiled egg — to the same dal-roti-sabzi meals. Didn’t cook anything special, just kept a tub of curd and a batch of boiled eggs in the fridge and ate one with the main meal. I did that for about 6 weeks and my strength in the gym came back and my clothes felt a bit looser (without changing family food). If you’re vegetarian, a small bowl of paneer or roasted chana worked the same way for me.

Single tweak: add a protein-rich side to the same family meal (examples: a bowl of curd, 2 eggs, 50–100 g paneer, a larger serving of dal or roasted chana). Spreading protein across meals helps preserve/build muscle and increases satiety. Try it consistently for 3–6 weeks while keeping training the same to judge effect.
