Office lunch: eat the rice thali now or save carbs for after an evening workout?
In many offices the default lunch is a rice-heavy thali or a tiffin with rice. If you train in the evening, do you change what you eat at lunch (switch to rotis, smaller portions, or a salad) to 'save' carbs for after the gym, or do you eat normally and have a light protein dinner? Share what you actually do and why—energy, digestion, convenience, or something else.

Short answer: for most recreational gym-goers, total daily carbs and getting protein around the workout matter more than “saving” rice at lunch. A moderate rice thali won’t wreck an evening session; if it makes you sluggish, reduce portion size, choose whole‑grain rotis, or add more protein and fiber to slow digestion. If you train soon after lunch prefer a lighter, easily digested meal and/or a small pre‑workout carb (banana, chapati) 30–60 min before. After training, aim for ~20–40 g protein plus some carbs to aid recovery. Adjust for training intensity, personal digestion, and convenience.
