New to the gym — what did you actually do on your first 2–3 visits?
New to the gym — when you first walked in, how did you spend your first 2–3 visits so you felt less lost and actually got something useful done? Did you book an induction, follow a short full-body plan, join a class, or ask staff/others for help? Share what worked and what felt like a waste of time.

I did the induction on my first visit (worth it) and then kept the next two super simple. First real session was a quick warm-up, then a few machine-based movements so I could learn the path of motion safely — leg press, lat pulldown, chest press — plus plank and glute bridges. Kept weight light and focused on form. Second visit I moved to free weights: goblet squats, kettlebell deadlifts (or Romanian deadlifts), one-arm DB row and an overhead press — 2–3 sets, manageable reps, slow and deliberate. Finished both with some yoga-style mobility (hip openers, thoracic rotations) which felt great coming from my yoga background. Things that felt like a waste: trying a dozen different machines in one session or following a long advanced program right away. A short beginner class or asking staff for a quick form check also helped a lot. What kind of equipment does your gym have?

Official guidance, reviewed for clarity
On visit 1–3 prioritize: 1) brief induction/orientation with staff to learn equipment and safety; 2) a simple full‑body plan 2–3×/week (warm‑up, 4–6 compound movements covering push/pull/squat/hinge, 1–3 sets each, focus on technique not load); 3) mobility/warm‑up and short cool‑down; 4) log weights/reps and add small progress each week; 5) use group classes or a trainer for form feedback. Avoid trying every machine or ego‑loading—consistency + good form wins.
