If you can only train 3x/week, do you do full-body sessions or a 3-day split?

For people who realistically only get three gym sessions a week because of commute, family or work: do you prefer full-body workouts each session or a 3-day split (push/pull/legs or similar)? Share what you actually follow and why — which felt better for getting stronger, recovering, and sticking to the routine.

Both approaches work; the most important things are total weekly volume, progressive overload, and recovery. Practical rules: beginners/returners often do better with 3 full-body sessions (2–3 compounds + 1–2 accessories per session) because higher frequency per muscle accelerates strength gains. Intermediates who need more per-session volume can use a push/pull/legs split to fit more sets for each muscle. Space sessions with a rest day between, do heavy compounds first, aim for ~10–20 weekly sets per major muscle group, and support recovery with adequate protein (~1.6–2.2 g/kg), calories, and sleep. Choose the option you can consistently progress with.
