Do you use weekly (not daily) targets to keep a fitness routine when life gets messy?
I see a lot of advice to do something every day, but my weeks are full of travel, meetings, festivals and family time. Do people set weekly goals instead (minutes per week, number of sessions) and then fudge the days? If yes, what exactly do you aim for, how do you split sessions, and what simple rules rescue the week after missed days?

Aim for weekly targets rather than strict daily rules: WHO/ACSM recommend 150–300 min moderate aerobic (or 75–150 min vigorous) per week plus muscle-strengthening on 2+ days. Practical splits: 3×50 min, 5×30 min, or 2×25 min vigorous + 2 strength sessions. Short bouts count (no 10‑min minimum). Rescue rules: (1) If you miss days, prioritise the 2 strength sessions first (they’re easiest to lose). (2) Use 10–25 min HIIT or circuit sessions to recover volume—prefer two short sessions over one extreme long session. (3) Don’t more than double your usual single‑day load to avoid injury. (4) Keep travel-friendly options (bodyweight, bands, walking) so you can hit a minimal effective dose.
